Two Truths and a Lie

Directions for the "Two Truths and a Lie" Activity

  1. Each student will write down two true statements and one lie about themselves.
  2. You may arrange the statements in any order. The goal is for the class to identify the lie.
  3. Take a moment to think before writing your statements; this helps everyone prepare.
  4. Once you finish writing, we will go around the room. Each student will read their three statements aloud.
  5. After each student reads, the class will vote on which statement they think is the lie.
  6. The student will then reveal the lie and can explain the truths if time allows.

Optional Extended Activity:

  1. After writing your statements, turn in your papers.
  2. As time allows, the teacher will select a paper, and the student will stand and read their statements.
  3. The class will vote on which statement they think is the lie.
  4. The student will then reveal the lie and can explain the truths.

This game could also be spread out over many days.
