Pear Deck,
For Pear Deck, you first open your Google Slides presentation, start it through Pear Deck, and choose Student-Paced Mode. Pear Deck then gives you a Session Join Link and a five-letter join code. That Pear Deck link is what you would post for students in Canvas. GoGuardian Help Center
So for an asynchronous lesson, the flow would be:
You: Google Slides → Pear Deck → Start Lesson → Student-Paced → copy the Pear Deck Join Link
Students: Canvas → click the Pear Deck link → work through the slides and complete the interactions at their own pace.
They do not need their own Pear Deck account. If you require student login—which I would recommend if you need to know who completed the work—they sign in with their school Google or Microsoft account. Otherwise, Pear Deck can let them enter anonymously. GoGuardian Help Center
One useful detail for asynchronous classes: the five-letter code expires after one week, but the Session Join Link is permanent, so I would put the actual link in Canvas rather than the code. GoGuardian Help Center
So essentially: you build in Google Slides, but students complete it through the Pear Deck link.
